John W STOREY b1894, Ware, Herts

trying to trace my grandads family. he was Percy Storey b1925 - d1991, brother Herbert b1927 - d2006. Son of John Storey and Emily Charlton who  married in Edmonton in SEP 1924 but i have been unable to trace the Storey line any further back. The family thinks it would have links to either Ware, Herts or Edmonton. any help much appreciated as always. Thanks

If you get John's marriage certificate that will give you an age at marriage and father's name and occupation  -  for both him and Emily.

Then you will have two more points of reference  Cheesy

assume you deduced his DoB from the marriage Cert - did it give his fathers name and occupation ?

apart from a John W Storey in Islington of the right age, this chap looks promising:-

I guess Eliza remarried to Albert in the previous 3 or 4 years judging by names and ages ...

thanks for the replies, just been speaking to  my nan (percy storeys wife). we have a census copy from 1901 which shows john storey and his sister martha living with a familly called Burgess. i assume this is Johns mum who it appears has re-married and therefore is no longer a 'storey', they are living in Ware and mum is listed as Eliza Burgess (must be re-married).

whats the best way to apply for a birth certificate? not done it before. thanks

 Isaac Storey marries Eliza Game  in Ware 1894 Q1
 Isaac Storey b 1863 dies 1896 Ware.

 Eliza Game on 1881 census as b 1869 Ware.

 RG11/1402 F 21 P 35

 The cert will say if she was a widow when she marries Albert Burgess.
