Man in his natural environment

On the off chance
« on: Sunday 05 October 08 11:27 UTC (UK) »

As a Blyth lad I know I had a boatload of rellies living in the town when I was a kid, or at least it seemed so when I went "down the street" (into Blyth) shopping with me granny or mam. The question I am pondering is do I have any now. So is anyone in Rootschat land related to the following:

John James Murray, b C1861 Whitehaven Cumberland, d 1922 South Newsham, & his wife
Eleanor Doran, b c1863 Whitehaven Cumberland, d 1925 Newsham
marriage 06 June 1881 Whitehaven.

Robert Mann, b 27 Feb 1842 Tynemouth, d c1919 in Blyth(?) & his wife
Mary Ellen Sutton, b c1842 Norbury Cheshire, d 1890 Northumberland,
Mariage 16 June 1869 Whitchurch Shropshire.

I should add
If you are or know anyone who is please get in touch.
Ta
Pete
Oh I left Blyth in 1975 and have no elder relatives to ask.

Hello Pete

I've just come across your enquiry re Mary Ellen Mann nee Sutton and conclude that we are related!  My gt grandfather (maternal) was John Sutton the youngest sibling of Mary Ellen and son of William and Frances of Whitchurch.  I have visited Marbury and there were some Sutton graves.  William's father was Edward Sutton who worked on the Combermere estate - he was apparently a natural with horses and was always on hand when Princess Eugenie visited there for the hunting.  Frances was originally Frances Wright her father being Joseph Wright a carpenter in Norbury.  My grandmother remembered her as Little Granny and loved to visit her in Whitchurch where on a summer's day the windows were always wide open.  I have more snippets which I will look out but thought I must at least make contact!

Look forward to hearing from you

Julia
