I`m trying to find any info on my g grandfather William Northam b1858, Yarcombe Devon. He married Isabella Billing(s) in 1881. On the 1881 census it has William living with a William Ellis Ackland as a farm labourer. I can`t find a birth certificate for him. Can anyone help?

Also in 1871 I have found a William Northam aged 8 years born Yarcombe.  This could well be your William  - if he married Isabella whilst under age he could swell have lied about his age so as not to have permission of his parents.  Caroline was born abt 1883 so all this is possible.
If this is your William then it gives a feast of family members as follows

Hannah Northam W aged 49 born Curry Mallet Somerset
Charles Northam son aged 20 born Yarcombe

Simon Northam Father aged 78 born Yarcombe
Mary Northam aged 80 born Combe St Nicholas, Somerset

Also on the same page in 1871 census in nearby dwelling ther is
William Northam H aged 44 born Yarcombe
Mary Ann Northam W aged 50 born Yarcombe.
If you cannot find a birth cert for William circa 1858 - try a little later say 1863 (after checking that the William who married Isabella had a father called William)  I feel sure that this will prove to be family.

I have a lead on Jane Northam, my Williams brother. It looks as if this is my family.
