PICKFORD of Mellor, Derbyshire
« on: Tuesday 07 October 08 16:52 BST (UK) »

Hi Folks

It looks like my Samuel PICKFORD was born around 1808 in Mellor, Derbyshire. At some point he met met Alice CARROLL from Carlow, Ireland and by 1841 they were in Hyde, Cheshire. (Transcribed by Ancestry as "TACKFORD".

There are at least two other PICKFORD households a few streets away. A 35-40 year old Charles PICKFORD and a 35-40 year old William PICKFORD. All were NOT born in the county of Cheshire.

I would be grateful for any information.

Kind regards

Mike

Hi Belinda,

Sorry for not getting back sooner.  Only just found your message - didn't seem to get notified.

Anyway, from the 1841 and a daughter's transcribed birth certificate, by the modern registrar, the name looks like Alice.  Also the MLFHS transcribed 1851 "unfilmed" also says Alice.

Sorry
