Samuel Haynes - Baptist Minister
« on: Tuesday 07 October 08 16:09 UTC (UK) »

Hello,

Im hoping someone can help.  Im looking for information on Samuel Haynes born 1829 in Ely, Cambs.  In 1861 onwards census show him as a baptist minister in st ives, huntingdon.  living at Church Street in St Ives.

How can i find out more info on the church etc and about his time as a baptist minister??

Thanks

Hello Nik,

Try this link - I think your Samuel Haynes is mentioned -

though it doesn't say much I'm afraid!

Samuel Haynes was my gg-father. Born in Ely / Fulbourn to Josiah Haynes & Ann Hall who are buried at the back of a pub there (formerly a Baptist chapel). Fifth child of 9. Married Susan Miller. 5 children. Married Elizabeth Stapley late in life. Samuel and Susan are buried in cemetery in St Ives.

The Baptist chapel in St Ives is still open. There is a plaque in the church to Samuel Haynes.
