Can anyone find the baptism for Mary Ann Carter 1868.
I once ordered the incorrect birth certificate as I think there were two Mary Ann Carters both born around the same time.
There is one on the IGI index but it gives the parents as George Carter and Elizabeth - Marys parents were George Carter and Catherine.
Kind regards

Is it possible Mary wasn't baptised? I can't find details for either her brother (George Henry) or sisters. I know in later life Mary did become very religious though.

Would it make a difference if they were Presbyterians? This is something I don't understand too much about. I can't find baptisms for any of her siblings ie:
1859 George Henry Carter 1862 Sarah ‘Lizzie’ Carter 1864 Kate Ellen Carter 1868 Mary Carter
All were born in the Islington area. Parents were George Cornelius Carter and Catherine Carter (nee Payne) both of whom were baptised in Herts and Berks.
Kind regards

Hi
If they were Presbyterians then they would not be baptised in an Anglican church, they would be non-conformist. Before 1837 a larger percentage of non-conformist registers survive, since a deal was done with the government at the time of the start of civil registration and most non-conformist churches deposited their records with the government in exchange for the agreement they would be acknowledged as legal documents. Most of these records are indexed on the IGI since they are held at The National Archives. After 1837 it was a much more hit and miss affair on whether non-conformist records survive and whether they have been deposited in local record offices. Any such records which have survived and been deposited at the LMA are not part of the present release of Anglican parish records in the digitalisation process with the LMA and Ancestry.
