Hi Kevin

Thanks for the link. So if my Forges are there they'd be on pages 305-312 of Frogley's original manuscript - I don't know how that would equate to the pages in the published book.

Once these Christmas/New Year festivities have been fully paid off, I might need to get at least the first volume. So much of 19th century Barking has disappeared and it would be good to read a first-hand account of what it was like.

Cheers all!

Hi Koromo,

Sorry that I took so long in getting the following.

from Mr. Frogley's Barking, second selection.
Memorials from the Churchyard (St. Margarets).

Forge, Sarah,  d. April 8th. 1831 (confirmed in the burial register)
Forge, Richard W. d. January 11th. 1843, husband of the above Sarah.  According to the 1830 register, Richard Walrond Forge was the brother, not the husband to Sarah.  According to St. Margarets burial registers, he died at Mile End Old Town in January 1843, aged 28.
Forge, Elizabeth d. June 1858
Forge, Richard, d.April 1861, Smackowner, and parents of the
above Sarah & Richard Walrond Forge.  St. Margaret's burial register shows Richard Forge buried 17th November 1861 aged 83.
Forge, Mary, d. 1849.
Forge, John. Lated Sailmaker & Smackowner. St. Margaret's burial register does not list John Forge who died in 1883 but Kelly's 1855 lists a Joh Forge, Sailmaker & Smackowner in Fisher Street. Later Frogley notices an earlier John Forge who died in 1833.
Forge, Elizabeth, wife of Thomas Forge. she d. 1879.
Forge, Thomas, Watchmaker & Newsagent. His only son Thomas Forge kept on the Watchmaking business some time at length became a Postman at Ilford for 20 years. d. January 1912 & buried at City of London Cemetery.

Hope this helps.

Hi pmc49

On a quick read through of all the Forges you found, I think I can safely say that they are ALL related to 'my' Forge family. The John Forge who died in 1833 is in my direct line, and all the others are siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, etc etc!

Thank you very, very much for taking the time to find them. I will now sit down and work out exactly who's who.

Kind regards
Koromo

Hi Koromo,

I thought of you if you still need it, a lot of info is now online for Essex/Barking including St.Margaret's.

http://seax.essexcc.gov.uk/displayParishContents.asp

If the address does not work look up Essex Ancestors

Hiya Sirius

The SEAX site is fabulous!  I get a real thrill when I can see and browse the actual parish records which, as I am outside the UK, doesn't happen very often.

Thank you very much for thinking of me.  I might not have found them for ages otherwise.

Best wishes

Hi Koromo,

I saw the site in a news report in the local paper that the records were now online.
Had you seen it before I told you?

I hadn't known that the actual images were online, but I've not looked at the FORGE family for quite some time.  I've now found and confirmed quite a few St Margaret baptisms, but unfortunately some of the early marriage registers are not legible enough to browse, eg. 1754-1767.

However, I'm pleased with those I have found.  Smiley
