Anyone help with this person henry mcartney born 1834 newcastle upon tyne moved to halifax and married ann shaw in 1853 i can't find his parents can't seem to get further back thanks

The marriage cert hopefully will give his fathers name and occupation.

That will then help find him in earlier censuses, when he may or may not be with his parents.

As he was born pre 1837 there will be no birth cert, it will be a case of looking for a christening. Is he ever any more specific with a place of birth in any of the censuses?

Hello discwizard,
as lizdb says you really need the marriage certificate to ensure you are on the right track.

I just give you this to look at:
1841 HO107; Piece 296; Book: 12;  Folio: 59; Page: 19

John W Carthy, wife Mary and several children including Henry Carthy aged 7 yrs.

Same family:
1851 HO107; Piece: 2393; Folio: 226; Page: 17
same family - no Henry
MacArtney

It looks good to me but you would need verification.

I am trusting that you have census access - if not just post.
