William Lewes
« on: Monday 13 October 08 13:37 UTC (UK) »

On the 1901 census, William Lewes, HD, 25, Coal Tipper, b. Pembroke, Cardinganshire was residing in Brithdir, Gellygaer.  Also Lettie, WI, 24, b. Cardigan and son James Wm Francis, 5mths, b. Swansea.

Appreciate help locating them on the 1891

Thanks
Roy

There is no William Lewes with that profile on either the Ancestry 1901 or the PRO 1901 index

Hi Carole
I don't know Letties maiden name, nothing showing on freebmd, I thought with baby James being born in Swansea there was a chance of the family residing there on the 1891 census.

Sorry for the inconveniece

Hi

No inconvenience - but no use looking for them as a family in 1891 as Lettie would only have been 14

Any chance the surname is Lewis and not Lewes?  Have you checked freebmd for a Lewis marrying a Lettie (? Letitia)

Where did you get your reference info from

Per freebmd marriages

Marriages June qtr 1899

Francis  Letitia    Cardigan  11b 11

Lewis  William     Cardigan  11b 11

You should now be able to find her on the 1881 census

Hi

With a name like William Lewis - if he was definitely Lewis and not Lewes - you need a copy of his marriage cert to get the correct fathers name.  There are 16 possibles on the 1881 census

Hi Carol
Many thanks for your input, my info came from the 1901 census and will recheck to see if I misread the name, Lewes instead of Lewis.

kind regards
Roy
