Judith,
I looked at your armitage.htm page, and I saw that one of the images was addressed as: file:///C:/index.htm/home.gif
If you change that (and others similar) to just Home.gif (drop the "file:///C:/index.htm/" bit, and change the home to Home) then they should be ok.
Also you need to be careful with filenames "Home.gif is different to "home.gif" and "Home.GIF".
(this is an image link to your site)

I've had a look through three of your pages to see what the problem is:
armitage.htm Home.gif OK Home.gif OK
asher.htm Home.gif OK <img src="file:///C:/my%20website/"grandmaasher.jpgalign="right"hspace=20 vspace=20 border=0>What's going on there? Replace with:<img src="granmaasher.jpg" align="right" hspace=20 vspace=20 border=0> Home.gif OK
best.htm Home.gif OK miltonabbasstreet.jpg OK unclebert.jpg OK grandma.jpg OK <img src="file:///C:/index.htm/wedding.jpg"Another One Replace with: <img src="wedding.jpg"
etc..
Just go through your pages and get rid of any "file:///C:/index.htm/" bits and it should be ok.

Thanks again!! Have done what you said. 1. If I delete the file info from the background image on the index page, then the whole picture disappears. 2. Offline in the browser, all the links from the index page work, but if I bring it up online, 2 links dont work, the connected surnames and the Line one. I have been fiddling with this all day and cant get them to work.

Judith,
If you post a link to your page, perhaps somebody else can have a little look too with us.
1) Which image on which page?
2) Which two links don't work when it's online? Have you checked for capital letters - ie that the name of the link exactly matches the page it's linking to?
Getting there! Trystan

Hi
Im getting around the link problem by making new pages; just got one done and it works.
Last night in the chatroom we asked for several people online to have a look, and apparently none of them could get any pictures at all. Yet it works fine for me, and it seems to with you!!! As I have no idea what makes the internet tick, I'm wondering if it is me doing something wrong, ie browser compatibility etc etc and there is something I can do to remedy it. thanks again, youre an angel Judith

I couldn't see the images that had problems with either. I brought them up by guessing what you were trying to show by looking at the source of your webpage.
The best thing is to check exact spelling of every word, including what "case" it is too.
