Does anyone know whether records of inquests into deaths survive for Cornwall?

I've just got a death certificate for my great great aunt, Bertha Ellen DAWE, who died in 1890.  The cause of death is almost impossible to read, but the certificate also records 'certificate received from Albert C. L. Glubb, Coroner for Cornwall.  Inquest held 13th February 1890'.

I'm interested to know whether inquest records do survive as her father was killed by a wagon and one of the other members of my family drowned in the River Frome in Bristol.

Hi Kiya

The Cornwall Record Office should be able to tell you what survives and their whereabouts.

Newspapers usually reported on coroner's inquests and they are often more detailed than the actual coroner's reports.  Enquire at the main local library for the area in which your ancestor died for these.

Newspapers for the whole country are also available at Colindale, London:
