Hi mark,

I am trying to help another rootschatter in a different thread regarding their family's links with the Orange Order.

They don't have any details about which lodge they were in, however if they were still part of the Institution when they died, it would have been common practice for the lodge's to put a notice in the belfast telegraph.

If you have a chance could you possibly look up the following three deaths in the telegraph:

William Majury  died 11 Jul 1993
John Majury died 9 Jan 1952
Tom Weir died 3 Jun 1993

I/they don't really need a full obituary or list of death notices, but a notice relating to their individual lodge's sediments - if it's there it would be extremely helpful e.g.

ROYAL YORK L.O.L. 145
"The W.M., Sec and Brethren of Royal York L.O.L. 145 send their deepest condolances and sympathy to the wife and extended family of it's late P.M. Bro. William Thompson."

Something along those lines would have been printed, if you can find anything like that for those three individuals it would be a great help in me tracing any existing lodge members for pictures etc.

Cheers Mark, thats unfortunate. Given the surnames it wouldn't surprise me if one or more of those death notices came from Wilgar Park, i.e. Dundela?

Here's a link to the thread that the lady was hoping for information on her family's Orange links

Hi Mark,
Sorry to be a burden but I am having awful trouble finding my gggrandas date of death in order to locate his, my gggrannys and uncles grave. The problem is that apart from being the head of house in the Street Directories and signing the Covenant its as if he never existed. Someone suggested the Telegraph death notices but I'm very rarely ever in Belfast to check them myself. His daughter took charge of the house between 1929 and 1930 so I assume that he died around this period. I know that this is a tremendous task to ask of anyone but I'm at my wits end with him so I would appreciate any help.
Robert McClinton - 118 Cambrai Street, Belfast (1929/30)

Many thanks

Unless you've at least a month never mind a year its an  impossible task to look through every days paper for 2 years worth of papers. The only other thing I can think of is to contact the city cem and ask if they have a burial record for a McClinton for these dates and hopefully the address will match.
