Family of Robert Martin 1907

Hi

I have got my Father in Law hooked now. We are trying to trace his grandfather side of the family Robert Martin b1907, he married a Mary Notman b 19/06/1911.

Can any one help, I believe the Martin's may have come from Midlothian

Hya I think that you may have made a mistake in your message.

Robert Martin b1907, he married a Mary Notman b 19/06/1911.

If Robert was born 1907 then this would have made him only 4 at the time of his marriage. Is this correct?

This information is correct for Mary Notman was born 19/06/1911, we are only guessing that Robert was born in 1907 as he was older than Mary.

We have no idea when they were married.

Hi Susie

There are at least two Robert Martins born in Midlothian in 1907. You probably need to start from the marriage cert. of Mary and Robert. Did they marry in Scotland? There is no marriage showing on Scotlands People up to 1932, not surprising given their birth years. SP have a cut off for on line images on marriages of 1932 at present. You would need to order the marriage cert directly through the GROS or maybe someone could look this information up for you at New Register House in Edinburgh.

Scottish marriage certs. include parents' names including mother's maiden name. This would let you trace back to Robert's birth cert with confidence and research his family and ancestors.
