Ferguson - KILMUN

Am looking for  date of death of James Ferguson, born 1773 ( innkeeper of Portenstock) and his wife, Janet Lamont - also any further background anyone has. I have DOBs of his brother - John and sister Mary and have his parents as Duncan Ferguson and Sarah McLean - their parents I think to be Donald Ferguson and Isabel Douglas but would appreciate anthing anyone has to fill in the gaps.

Hi AScot,
I'm afraid that I can't help you with James Ferguson, but have forwarded your message on to someone who I thnk can.
However, my ggrandfather, John Blue, was on the 1851 census as staying with James at the Portenstuck Inn with his new wife Margaret Ferguson. Could she be James's grandaughter? They are supposed to have had their 1st son, Dugald there, but unfortunately he seems to be unrecorded.

Sorry haven't answered for ages due to illness. Yes their son Alexander 1809 -1855 was married to Christina McNair. Do you want to know more of their family and are you researching either of them?

I'm tracing a Margaret Ferguson who married a John Brown about 1860. They seem to have had a daughter Margaret Brown born about 1862 probably in Glasgow.
Does this ring a bell with what you've found or got?
