Job Hodges head mar residing in traveller's caravan/hawker b Berks Windsor Rosa wife 32 b Sussex William son 13 b Tonbridge wells Kent Harriet 11 unemployed b kent Barning? Job son 8 b Kent Braidhurst James son 6 b Kent Cliffe Jeremiah son 2 b Sussex
then I see Job jnr next door to James and Eliza hedges in 1871
1851 transcribed under Hedgis St Mary, Kent travelling house cart standing in Barns st James Hedgis head mar 36 dealer in mats b Plumstead Eliza wife 35 Esther 14 Sophia 12 Sebena 11 Golias 9 Elijah 5 Alfred 3 Olive 3 months children b Kent
then in 1871 William Hedges b 1816 Under River, chair bottomer is with wife Frances, lodging with them is Alfred Hedges head mar 27b Kent Borstal with wife Eliza and children Emma John and Alfred. Next door is John 25 and Jane 26 Hedges.
going round in circles here
Do you have all the children of the supposed brother's families?
I just don't want to cover what you already have ...so if you could tell us what censuses you do have them in that would help.
will search further

Hi Jenny
never give up ...I have travellers/gypsies in my family ...thank goodness they have be enumerated at all ...they are so elusive.
what stand out to me is that Job Hedges married Rosa who was born in Sussex ...their 'last child ' jeremiah was born Sussex whereas all the other kids b Kent. My first thought was that Job was also married prior ...late here ...will look further torrow
deb added ... we need to find them with a niece or nephew ...eeekkkk no sign of them in 1841 YET LOL

Hi again Jenny
I am all over the place but hoping that we may come across William, James and Job's children with their families and a connection somehow ...we just need one census to hopefully say cousin of or nephew/niece of etc ....
1881we have in Chatham Sampson Hedges head mar 41 family of tramps b kent Gillingham Bridget wife 31 b Limmerick Ireland Sampson son 8 b Chatham Samuel Watson boarder unm 16 hawker b kent lewis
could this Sampson be s/o William and Fanny?
sometimes it's a long haul to find the connection Hopefully we will find it !
deb
added trying to find samuel Watson in 1871 ...

Hi Jenny
The ref for the 'other' Job is
RG10/1656 81 53 ...it just seems soooo strange to have a couple and their children with the same names, born about the same time in the same area and hawkers!!!!
I must admit that my blood started to boil at the enumerator's description of them ..... but then again it was 1871 and what did he know!

This is amazing ...
Could it be possible that there are two Jobs with same wife and children's names in same area at the same time ....
In 1851 we have this; I see Job Hedges in 1851 transcribed as HODGES Caravans Long Lane Bexley
Job Hodges head mar residing in traveller's caravan/hawker b Berks Windsor Rosa wife 32 b Sussex William son 13 b Tonbridge wells Kent Harriet 11 unemployed b kent Barning? Job son 8 b Kent Braidhurst ....bc 1843 James son 6 b Kent Cliffe Jeremiah son 2 b Sussex
he def. fits with the Job in 1871 with 'uncle' James Job Hedges age 27 Licensed Hawker Born Breadhurst Kent
so who is Job bc 1841 , POB Unknown? could he be the same guy or a relative ...
will look in 1861 ...although without POB who knowa what we will find ?
