Leon's Beg, Magheracloone Parish
« on: Wednesday 02 February 05 10:35 UTC (UK) »

I am curently searching for information on my ancestors Bernard Martin and Catherine Mary Duffy m: 5 Dec 1852 in Magheracloone Parish.   They had nine children, several of whom emigrated to Australia around the 1880's. If you can help I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Natalie

Hiya Natalie,

Bernard or maybe his father Bernard must have been a man of some means..not just a mere labourer. He appears in the Co. Monaghan part of Griffiths Valuations. http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths.php The Valuation took place in the county 1858 - 60. I had a look at this site http://www.familysearch.org ..nothing... totally useless on this occasion. Nine children too. What is the point in having nine children if one of the family does not get a wee mention in http://www.familysearch.org  Huh They may hiding under the broad definition "Ireland" rather than the more specific definition "Monaghan"

All the Best, Chris
