Episcopal Bury St Edmunds Commissary Court
« on: Monday 27 October 08 12:35 UTC (UK) »

Am I correct in assuming that the above is another name for the Archdeaconry of Sudbury Court?  I've not come across this until looking through the Society of Genealogists catalogue and found they have this on microfilm as well as the Archdeaconry of Sudbury Wills indexes.  Googling it found an entry under google books which indicated that the Commissary Court and the Archdeaconry Court were one and the same, can anyone confirm this as in 7 years of active research in Suffolk (and many visits to the Suffolk RO at Bury St Edmunds), I've not come across it before.

My understanding of the Probate Courts structure for Suffolk pre-1858 is as follows in this order:

Archdeaconry of Sudbury or Suffolk
Consistory Court of Norwich
PCC

Thanks

Nicola
