Global (Blue) mods are able to move/edit topics/threads on any board, while Mods (Green) have more limited abilities to move or edit topics only on those boards where they are the dedicated moderator.

Unfortunately, green mods seem to receive the same flak that blue mods do, but we value them just the same   Wink  Smiley

I started a thread in the Common Room at:
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,331174
'New Moderators'
where I wrote in part:
...  I'm sure that most RootsChatters would appreciate it if Admin would post a list of all the Global Moderators and of all other Moderators (and explain the difference, and the specialisations of those who aren't global).

Many thanks in advance.

...

There was support from other RootsChatters but the information wasn't forthcoming.  So thanks, Nell, for your answer to Lydart's question.

But I then became a bit confused as there's also a category of RootsChat Moderator ...  And there seems to be overlap between categories (some of the Global Mods e.g. Little Nell  sometimes appear with 7 green stars).  I've tried to work it out.  I wonder whether I've come up with the right explanation??

Here goes .....

Posts by Global Moderators have 7 blue stars and the title Global Moderator.

However some Global Moderators also function as dedicated moderators on one or more specific boards.  When they are posting on board(s) for which they are dedicated moderators, their posts don't have 7 blue stars and the title Global Moderator but have 7 green stars and the title Moderator (not sure if this is universally the case!).

A number of boards have dedicated moderators who are not Global Mods.  Where they are posting on the board(s) which they moderate, their posts, too, have 7 green stars and the title Moderator.  But when they post on other boards, their posts have only 5 green stars and the title RootsChat Moderator.

Phew!

There are also some anomalies who don't fit into this system.  For example, JDG, listed as a moderator for the Emigrants board, who has three yellow stars.

JDG used to be a moderator on RootsChat, but due to other commitments, stopped being so some time ago.

Her name is still on these two boards, and will be removed in due course.

Hi All,

Yes, I came across some apparent anomalies which I didn't mention - I was trying to keep it as simple as possible  Wink

Thanks Bob for that explanation.

As has been explained in another topic, the names of the moderators are published on their assigned boards
and also appear clearly marked in Users Online.

There is no need to publish them here.
