Families of BURITON, Hampshire
« on: Friday 01 May 09 06:21 UTC (UK) »

Looking for further info. re JAMES PRETTY, my gr.father, born in Buriton, Hampshire, 28 July, 1855.  He apparently came to Australia around 1877, as his D.C. says he spent 42 years in Victoria.  He was child of Henry PRETTY and Eliza TULET, also of Buriton.   He was married in Lilydale, Vic. in 1888 at age 33 yrs. to Ruth Burton of Lilydale, age 24 yrs. and they had one child, my father in 1901.
I would like to find out more about James' life before he came out to Australia, and indeed anything between say 1877 and 1888, i.e. where he lived and worked, etc. Have a lot of info. from different sources, including x Pretty relatives, about other members of the families. Ruth MacLeod (nee Pretty) in Australia Grin
