I also have Scott's in Orkney the originally came from Aberdeenshire,
James Scott and Jane Strachan in Fraserburgh, i have 2 children for them
Charels b St Fergus 08 Feb 1812 and Died Kirkwall 1 Wald's Close, Kirkwall, Orkney 28 Sep 1891
ans Mary Scott his sister
Charles married Eliza Bruce in Aberdeen and the had 12 children
William Oricks Strachan Scott b 1834
Anne Scott b 1836 ( my 2x grt Gran) married James Flett in 1856
Jannet Harper Scott b 1838 married Donald Miel in 1860
Mary Scott b1840 married John Smith in 1865
Charles Scott b 1841
Alexander Scott b 1843
David Scott b 1845
Eliza Scott b 1847
Edward Scott b 1849
William Gairn Scott b 1851 married Elizabeth Corrigal
Margaret Scott b abt 1852/3 married William Donaldson
Robert Scarth Scott b 1855 the only one to be born in Orkney
with a bit of luck we might make a connection

Thank you for your interesting posting Sybil. At this stage I can't see a connection but someone else may know of one.
My Ann SCOTT married 16 April 1812 on Stronsay John PEACE
Ann's parents were William SCOTT & Barbara MS CRAIGIE.
Some of Ann's siblings were: Jannet b: 3 Nov 1777; Margaret b: July 1779; John b: 15 Feb 1782. All born Sanday.
Will be on the lookout for you too Sybil & if anyone can add to anything for both Sybil & myself that will be wonderful.
As you see on my SCOTT postings...I have had masses of help already & have gone quite a way back, so will indeed be extremely fortunate if I find more.

Is there anyway I can find out plse. whereabouts on Sanday my Craigie and Scotts (above) lived.
Will do as much research as I can before I head over there June next year.

Hi there Tiffaney, if you are heading out to Sanday some time please note that there is a booklet with the Sanday Memorial Inscriptions from all 3 cemeteries: Burness, Cross and Lady. It might save you some footwork. I believe it is printed on the island.

Will make enquiries before I go to see if they still have it on Sanday...be gret to save some footwork & perhaps wet feet!!

It,s a great island with beautiful beaches, especially the one at the north end of Burness, but if it,s a rough day it gets a bit tiring trying to find names you are looking for in a cemetery. I got my booklets from the hostel and campsite on Sanday ( Ayres Rock) they have a website, the lady there was kind enough to send them to me.
