Hi Dorothy
here is James & family on the 1861. The entry is difficult to read, especially the occupations, but James is definitely not recorded as a Shoemaker. It took me about 20 minutes to figure out that the occupation for Thomas was - 'goes to work Lab' I was trying to figure out what type of labourer he was
I had the same problem with James but I believe it says Postman.
James Brazenton, head, mar, 43, Postman?, Glos. Frampton on Severn Ann, wife, m, 44, Glos. Painswick Thomas, son, 14, Lab, Glos. Arlington Alice, dau, 11, Scholar, Glos. Arlington Edward, son, 9, Scholar, Glos. Arlington Ellen, Dau, 4, Glos. Arlington George, son, 1, Glos. Arlington

Thanks very much Darcy, perhaps there wasn't much money to be made making shoes and he changed his occupation.
Thanks for you help it does seem to be the right family.
