So there might be hope?

My network is not password protected - in village far from any other dwelling, But I want to protect it with a password now.  I cannot log in to the router  to set this up - I do not think I put a password or user on - it is a draytek vigor 4.5 years old. But just clicking blanks, putting admin etc does not work when I get to the router screen.

Any brilliant ideas?

What is the name of your router?

Have you tried to google and find out more about your router?

I just tried to google the name you have given and nothing comes up at all.

Someone else might have an idea about how to help you.

Sorry, misspelt it originally, now corrected.  Here is the website; http://www.draytek.co.uk/

Have read that and many other internet fora, but do not want to set it back to original as we had so much b***dy trouble setting up the network in the first place.

i have limited knowledge but i have discovered i do connect through a router a netgear router and on the bottom there are several different codes
SSID
NETWORK KEY
CHANNEL

MAC (then bar code)
SERIAL (then bar code)

which one would it be?

when i type in 192.168.0.1 (which is what my router appears to be set at)
it asks me for my user name and password

i do not have any of these i simply plugged it in and away i went

Toni, I think it's the network key you want, but that's just from memory and I've had a long day! Undecided

Hi Toni,

try getting some help here. But before you do, have you tried logging into your router without giving a user name and or password?

Hi Toni.
I take it you don't have the book/disc that came with the router?
(Google model ref No of router if no instructions)
What I would do is look up the setting up instructions first.
To reset to 'as supplied' there should be a recessed button at the back of router.
Switch router on then depress button.
