I'm confused!

I'm confused - I thought immigrants came into a country
and emmigrants left a country-
I have found (I think!!) part of my family leaving the Channel Islands in 1941 -  on an " Immigration list " -
does that mean they went to England?....
Does anybody know? any help would be gratefully received -

Hi Annie,

They were almost certainly moving to England. The war was going on in Europe and the Germans had occupied the Channel Islands in 1940. Your family probably left at night, under the cover of darkness, in a tomato boat.
