George EVANS & Priscilla MORRIS
« on: Friday 07 November 08 19:56 UTC (UK) »

Hi everyone,

My great great grandfather was George EVANS. He was born in about 1806, plus/minus about 5 years by calculation from Census ages, in Steynton parish. In the 1851 Census his birth place is given as Rock, Steynton parish. The placename appears to be Rock not Roch (which is not in Steynton parish), and there was a Rock House in Steynton at this time.

George married Priscilla MORRIS, who was born in Narberth in 1806, plus/minus a year, in St Ishmaels on 13.12.1832.

Could anyone help with George and Priscilla's parents?

How productive would a visit to Haverfordwest RO be? (especially with such a common name like George EVANS!!)

Thanks

Ian EVANS

Welcome to Rootschat!  Grin

Steynton parish records aren't on the IGI, so you could order the film of the records from your local LDS centre, but the film is of the Bishops Transcripts rather than the actual parish records.
LDS have also filmed the Bishop Transcripts for Narberth. I've had a look at the IGI, but the only Priscilla around that time was baptised 11/12/1812 aged 10, daughter of Thomas & Mary, no surname given, so that's not much help.
Haverfordwest has copies of the parish records for both and might have records for chapels in the area.
Perhaps you could give them a ring to check what they have

The good thing about searching the parish records is that you find siblings and can see any extra comments.

A warning, you'll be hooked, very quickly, on parish records.
