Hi Brian
Have you tried old-maps
http://www.old-maps.co.uk/
I've been looking at current maps and can't locate it so it might well be buried under modern day Telford.

Thanks for that, Gadget. I couldn't find anything on a map, but then I did an 1841 address search for Shiffnal and found an alternative spelling of Mumporn Hill. When I looked at a census image for that address I found that Mumporn Hill was listed after Rogers Row, and I know that was in Snedshill. I then also found this on british-history.ac.uk:
Priorslee village remained small in 1752. (fn. 22) By the later 18th century, however, houses had been built to the north-west, probably by squatters, down to the western edge of Snedshill coppice and probably on the Oakengates road around Mumporn Hill.
So thanks for your help everyone - I think this one is solved.

PS It's not a good idea to google Mumporn!
