SEABROOK Family - Abbots Langley
« on: Wednesday 12 November 08 00:06 UTC (UK) »

Hi,
I am currently researching the Seabrook family from Abbots Langley, Herts. My great grandmother was Lilian Seabrook born around 1881 in Bedmond (married name Robinson) and her father was George Seabrook born around 1849 in Abbots Langley. I have Lilian's Marriage certificate and it states George was a Juice keeper?Huh It's very hard to read! I believe George's Father was also called George and may have been born around 1816 again in Abbots Langley. I was wondering if anyone had any further information on this family? Thank you in advance.
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Lilian first appears on the 1891 census at Bedmond viz  ...
George Seabrook  42  Gardener Domestic b.AL
Elizabeth   38  Wife  b Hemel Hempstead
Frederick  19 Labourer b. St.Michaels Hertford
Lilian          9   Scholar b.AL
Francis G.  8,  Mary 4, Charles 2 and Dora 10mths all born AL.

The 1881 confirms that George's father was also George age 69 on that census.
The IGI records the baptism of a George s/o William and Anne SEABROOK  at Abbots Langley on 20May1827. There were in fact five brothers baptised at the same time and it will be necessary to check the parish records to see if any birth dates are given. I will look into this for you on my next visit to HALS. William and Anne had at least one more son, John, who was baptised at AL on 07Jan1810.

Hi Daniel,

The cleric gave the ages of the five Seabrook boys who were baptized on 20May1827 at Abbots Langley but not their actual birth dates.
George 15,  William 13,  Thomas 11,  Frederic 7 and Henry 4.    Father William's occupation was given as Higgler.
I could not find a baptism for George c1849 but found an entry for Lilian viz 03Jul1881 Lilian Elizabeth d/o George and Elizabeth SEABROOK of Bedmond A.L. a labourer.

Kind regards   ...    Peter

Oh really? Maybe we are related down the line somewhere!
My great grandmother Lilian Seabrook had about 11 brothers and sisters so i wonder if you are descended form any of them! Have you researched that part of the family yet?
