Hi Scottgirl,
Ive come across your postings on Ocean Doe/James, i have Ocean Doe on my line and have done alot of research into her family and her parents, Sharon sent you the certificate i got, i hope we can shed more light on this family and help each other, i would love to know more. What most excites me is the possiblity with your help in seeing what mary Ann Draper looks like, i think i have a report of her death as a gypsy princess in a newspaper. I look forward to hearing from you, contact me stevendoe at hotmail dot com
best wishes steven doe

Hi Sharon,
How have you been?
I will have a look and scan it and send you a copy, it was part of an article on how every gypsy caravan is ruled by a women or something like that and they talked about Mary Ann Doe and her death a some years before, i have mary Ann Doe in the 1911 census also, so i guess she died soon afterwards i expect!
best wishes Stephen

Hi Barbara,
It was your messages that helped me confirm that ocean was the daughter of goliath doe and mary ann draper/humphreys. I would love to know any thing about goliaths family and oceans brothers and sisters that your aunt may remember, i love family stories, i think they are integral to whole are ancestors are and have spend hours scoring newspapers and arichive to find bits of infomation, im off to buckinghamshire record office to find more info. Goliaths children had a big plot of land that they, and many other romany families, such as Brazil, buckland, Sines and i think scott camped on, this was callled the Quadrant in Ash Vale Surrey. They had that upto the 50's untiul the council took it off them and built over it. I will find a way of putting a scan of the newspaper article on here, i have another photo of Does, bucklands and wenhams, maybe your auntie may recognise who they may be? they are decendants of goliath and mary ann doe, i will try and post this as well, it was taken in 1910ish in Send,
Ocean was named after her Aunt ocean Doe who was sister to goliath Doe Senior. Its interesting, you mentioned the nickname Sonner, i think it must be a Doe nickname as my great grandfaher Henry doe was called  Sonner, and other family members are called sonner as well,

best wishes and here from you soon,
regards stephen doe

Hello Barbara,

this site lists baptisms in Kent.

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~gypsy/gypsy.htm

Phoebes sister Mary Ann baptised 6th June 1886 at Crockenhill.

no sign of any of the others though.

regards,

Jim
