Common Macclesfield 1851
« on: Friday 04 February 05 11:05 GMT (UK) »

Hi,

an ancestor Enoch Challenor died at the common Macclesfield in October 1847.  I wondered if someone could look up any Challenor family left at the Common, Macclesfield in 1851.

I would be very grateful as I've tried long and hard to find this extended family Of Challenors who were Earthenware dealers / hawkers. A certain Jane Mellor was present at the death and I would love to try to trace her too. Would Enoch have been living with her as her name is on the death certificate. in which case I wonder where his family of Martha his wife and daughter Emma were?

Regards

Thank you so much Peter

this all appears to confirm my belief that the family of Challenors in Macclesfield are related to my family of Challenors.
I need to find the two William Challenors who I know were Richard's father and brother but I'm at a loss to know where to look.
In 1841 they were in Hyde Cheshire but moved on but I don't know where. In 1841 they were living close to another brother Enoch who I thought died at Macclesfield Common in 1847. Now I'm not sure if that Enoch was the same one or a member of the Macclesfield Challenors who were using the same names.

This all sounds a bit complicated and I have to admit it is 'doing my head in'.

Many thanks for your patience, Peter, you have been wonderful in your attempts to find this family.

Thank you
