Hi Chatters,
I have information that John McGoohan c1797 came from Ballinamore. He married Bridget Dunigan.
Would anyone be able to help us in our search for the origins of John and what became of him. His wife and family came to Scotland c1850. We beleive that John died in Ireland before they came over here.
Can anyone help us please.

If John died before 1850 it will probably be difficult to get much information since civil registration of deaths didn't start until 1864.
Where did the approx. year of birth come from?
If there's a gravestone for him it would hopefully list date of birth and age at death. Church records (if they exist) might list the date of death or burial but it's probably going to take a bit of searching to see what records do exist and then to see if there's any details of him.

Hi There,
The date of birth came from Bridget's death cert in Scotland. She died in 1874 and was listed as being 75 when she died. giving me c1799 and I would presume that he may have been born around this time also (although not foolproof). We think that he may have died around 1847ish, so there may be no records of him. I was kind of hoping that maybe someone of the same name may have been related and know a bit more. It has taken 2 years to come this far and I suppose it is a long shot.
