Alexander Garrick

I have Alexander Garrick (b. abt 1836 nr glasgow) living in south shields until 1871 and then I lose track of him.

He married Alice Stephenson in the 1860's. His sons marriage cert states his fathers name as Stephenson Garrick but I have no luck with finding him under that surname either.

Anyone any ideas of where he was after that (he was a mariner so may have moved to another area)

I can't see a death for Alexander, he may have died at sea.  Did John's marriage certificate state that his father was deceased?

I can't see young Alice in 1881 census, but there is a possible marriage for her:

Sep 1881 S. Shields    10a   801
GARRICK    Alice  to either  GALLON    William   or   HUTCHINSON    Robert

Managed to track the marriage of alice stephenson garrick & william gallon to south shields on 22/8/1881.

It appears william died in westoe during 1886.

I then lose track of alice again until dec 1901 when it appears she marries william atkinson and then dies in 1913.

I lose alice for two censuses, 1891 and 1901, even though it appears she is still in an around westoe/south shields.

The William Gallon who died in South Shields in 1886 was aged 70, are you sure that was Alice's husband?

There are a couple of Alice Garricks and Gallons around, I think you'd need to check the 1881 marriage cert to be sure it's your Alice
