I live in Oldmeldrum, so I'll have a look for you.  It might be a day or two before I'm round that way, but I'll see what I can find.

Cheers

John Barnet & Christian Donald are both in Oldmeldrum churchyard.  There are a few other names on the stone as well, but it's going to be another week before I'll have time to get the full inscription. There's lots of that horrible white stuff around at the moment which is not helping!

No William Adams, Isabel Adams or William Patterson, though.

Watch this space!

Cheers

Hello Ev
I am tracking the ancestory of the McLaren's and Dykers. I am new to RootsChat.  My great grandparents were Isabella McLaren and Chales Dyker. I sent a response to Blue_Ian to assist him in his search for information. You may like to look at that post. However, not sure how I search individuals who may have already provided information.
Kind regards

Many thanks.

Its quite exciting trawling through old letters and photographs that are nearly 100 years old.
I am reproducing my grandmother's book of poems, anecdotes and newsclippings.  Addresses where she lived are Orwell Farm Kinross, Upper Domeath, Huntly, Glass and street addresses around Edinburgh where she lived as a young woman.

Elsie even made comment in a poem she penned on Hector Macdonald's untimely death in Paris and alluded to the scandal.   Her book contains a 'postcard' of Hector.

aj57 -

Finally I managed to get there!

I tried to take a photograph of the stone, but the inscription does not show up unfortunately.

Here is the inscription -

1876 Erected by Alexander Barnet in memory of his father John Barnet shoemaker died 1845 age 64, his Mother Christian Donald died Aberdeen 1861 and is intered there; his Sisters Helen, Christian and Jane who were all interred in this churchyard.  His Son Alexander died 9 Feb 1876 age 16;  the first named Alexander Barnet died Backward Kemnay 31 Mar 1885 age 72

Hope this helps

Jim
