1841 Census or Dudley St. Thomas lookup - Fleet **Completed with Thanks**
« on: Saturday 15 November 08 17:19 UTC (UK) »

Hi,

I am trying to trace the family of Eliza Fleet, born 1831 in Tipton. By the 1851 Census she is married to Abraham Mills and living in Tipton HO107; Piece: 2029; Folio: 383; Page: 22.

Searching the IGI I have found the following:

IGI Batch No.: C010093
Parents:
Father: GEORGE FLEET
Mother: MARY

THOMAS FLEET Christening: 20 FEB 1820 Tipton, Stafford, England
MARY ANN FLEET  Christening: 02 JUN 1822 Tipton, Stafford, England
GEORGE FLEET   Christening: 26 OCT 1823 Tipton, Stafford, England
SARAH FLEET Christening: 04 SEP 1825 Tipton, Stafford, England

IGI Batch No.: C010094
Parents:
Father:   GEORGE FLEET
Mother: MARY

JOHN FLEET Christening: 27 JAN 1828 Tipton, Stafford, England
ELIZA FLEET Christening: 17 OCT 1831 Tipton, Stafford, England
================================================================================================
IGI Batch No.: M040144

GEORGE FLEET
Spouse: MARY BISHOP
Marriage: 28 DEC 1818      Saint Thomas, Dudley, Worcester, England
================================================================================================
IGI Batch No.: C040144
Parents:
Father: GEORGE FLEET
Mother: MARY

WILLIAM FLEET
Christening: 03 NOV 1833      Saint Thomas, Dudley, Worcester, England
================================================================================================

Which seems to suggest that the family (if they are all the same people) were back in Dudley by 1833. However I haven't found George & Mary on the census's as yet & so have no idea of their birth years or places.

Any help in finding a second source of information is much appreciated.

Thanks for reading, Ian

Hi Donna,

Thanks for that info. I believe Hannah is related, I have been trawling the IGI following up the leads Tati gave me and think I have found the previous generation for both sides of the family:

IGI Batch No.: A458175
WILLIAM FLEET (Birth: About 1762 Of, Hodnet, Shropshire, England)
Spouse: ELEANOR RIDGWAY (Birth: About 1766 Of, Hodnet, Shropshire, England)
Marriage: 29 DEC 1787 Hodnet, Shropshire, England

IGI Batch No.: C037562
Parents:
Father: WILLIAM FLEET
Mother: ELEANOR

JOHN FLEET     Christening: 16 JAN 1795 Whitchurch, Shropshire, England

IGI Batch No.: C037563
Parents:
Father: WILLM. FLEET
Mother: ELEANR.

MARY FLEET      Christening: 19 JAN 1798 Whitchurch, Shropshire, England
GEORGE FLEET  Christening: 19 JAN 1798 Whitchurch, Shropshire, England
RICHARD FLEET Christening: 09 MAY 1800 Whitchurch, Shropshire, England
SARAH FLEET      Christening: 08 APR 1803 Whitchurch, Shropshire, England
DANIEL FLEET   Christening: 24 JAN 1806 Whitchurch, Shropshire, England
STEPHEN FLEET Christening: 03 MAR 1809 Whitchurch, Shropshire, England
ELIZABETH FLEET Christening: 14 DEC 1810 Whitchurch, Shropshire, England
=======================================================
IGI Batch No.:  M040144
ISAAC BISHOP
Spouse: HANNAH HIPKISS
Marriage: 26 MAR 1796 Saint Thomas, Dudley, Worcester, England

IGI Batch No.: P009901
Parents:
Father: ISAAC BISHOP
Mother: HANNAH

THOMAS BISHOP Christening: 16 APR 1797 Rowley Regis, Stafford, England
MARY BISHOP        Christening: 06 JAN 1799 Rowley Regis, Stafford, England
ELIZ. BISHOP        Christening: 12 SEP 1802 Rowley Regis, Stafford, England
HANH. BISHOP    Birth: MAR 1803
                 Christening: 02 JUN 1805 Rowley Regis, Stafford, England
ANN BISHOP        Christening: 28 FEB 1805 Rowley Regis, Stafford, England
ISAAC BISHOP    Christening: 15 FEB 1807 Rowley Regis, Stafford, England
ISAIAH BISHOP   Christening: 14 MAY 1809 Rowley Regis, Stafford, England
JNO. BISHOP        Christening: 14 APR 1811 Rowley Regis, Stafford, England

Which would suggest that the Hannah you found was born Mar 1803.

I am guessing that Mary Fleet was probably born a year or two before her christening rather than being George's Twin.

Does anyone know what JNO is usually short for? Jonathan perhaps?

Thanks again for all the help,
Ian
