whats a Brown Out Tephra ?

It's where the electricity doesn't work up to full power, it can damage all electrical goods.   Something to do with the transformer not up to full capacity........sorry, don't know how to explain it better.   But we've got another big storm on it's way, so I'm gone!!!

Good luck with this, I know you'll all work it out.     Grin

Hi Deb,

I have had sight of the Birth cert for Alfred and it reads thus

Birth Cert 1877 Watford 17/2/1870 The Rookery Watford

Alfred Thomas Boy father Thomas Crosby / Mother Julia Maria Crosby
formerly Buckingham....Occ. labourer in Silk Mill .

which I don't understand i.e 1877/and 17/2/1870 as by all accounts he was born in '77 but I imagine that the 1870 is an error on Cert.

Thanks also for the 1901 census .

ok so what you are saying is that Alfred Thomas was born 1877 but the cert sattes 1870 ? or is that the index which states 1870
the other way round i can imagine would happen but accompanied by a financial penalty for later registration  but they obviously cannot register a baby before its born.

1891RG 12 Census 2700/113/19  Union Workhouse

                                                Violet aged 6?  (Daughter  ?)
Isabella   35                              b Wilford Notts (Derbyshire Border)

1901 there is a Henry Needham b 1855 , Nottingham as head of house with a Cassey Booth wid 47 and her son George

deb

ps just seen your post Spring, very strange about the dates .... do you have Thomas and julia on the 1871 ...I can't see them . Deb

Toni ...every indication on the census , is tha Alfred Thomas was b 1877!

I,ll have to contact my relation to check the Birth cert, but I did copy the info from his copy of cert. from ONS

Thanks Les , that could possibly be Thomas snr (the Shepherd ) and at least worth a death Cert. Dates certainly OK for childrens births. Great!!

Hi I think this amy be thomas Crosby b 1829 in the 1851 census ...

1851
Rookery
Elizabeth Crowsbery   Grin head wid 60 b Herts Watford
Thomas son 20 silk thrower b Watford
William Collins Son-in-law lodger 27 b Buckinghamshire
Sarah dau-in-law 27 silk thrower b herts Bovingdon
Eliza gr dau 3 b Watford
Emma gr dau 1 b watford

marriage
Sarah Crosby
mar q 1847
Watford
 6  825
William Collins is not there but then when I looked for him I found him with another guy and girl and no Sarah ...  they have same vol but different  page #

William Collins
Jun q  1847
 Watford
 6  823

Now looking at Sarah's original it is def .. JUNE Q 1847 Watford  6 825
William"s original looks like vol 6 p 825
