Hi Nicola
you could always send the person who started the thread a Personal Message to let them know you have some more information for them.

Hi Nicola
Welcome to Rootschat.
I've replied to locked threads, but only when they are fairly recent. Usually I get a response.
I think I've found the thread you mean and most of the people who contributed are still active on here. There are two ways round this, you will need to make a few more posts, (I think you have to get to 5) then you will be able to send a Personal Message to the person who started the Challenge, by clicking on a green scroll which will appear beneath their name. Looking at their profile, that particular person was on here last night, so still active.
Alternatively, you could start a new thread with the name of the family you are researching and the name of the Rootschatter. For instance:
Hello X, I'm interested in the Y family and have lots of info. Then in the body of the thread, you could give the information you have in this one.
Hope that helps.
Lizzie
ps. Just seen that oldtimer has suggested a Personal Message too.

This could have been one of the random search challenges we used to do in the "old" days.
A name was plucked out of the 1881 census and the challenge was to find out as much as we could about that particular person.

Hi there Susan. I've just found the whole thread (I was just looking at one part before, for some reason). It's incredibly interesting, and it does look as though it was done purely for the challenge. Which is a shame – I thought I'd found relatives! I have photos of portraits of some of the people being discussed, and a whole load of background info. Also a couple of really gritty little probs that I'm pleased to see aren't just me being stupid! I've also take the line back to the C17th and I'd love to share all that with anyone interested... Well, never mind, I've sent a personal message to one of the 'posters' and perhaps they'll be interested in following it up.
Cheers, Nicola

Hi Nicola
I'm sure folk on here would be very interested. Perhaps a new thread in the Common Room on the lines of "I'm related to the........... family in June 2005 challenge" with a link to the challenge thread.
Wait and see what response from the RootChatter you've sent pm to, she may have an idea.
Was it the Robertsons, I remember that one well, went on forever, or so it seemed.

Thanks Lizzie. I'm just typing out a personal message as we speak. I have already posted my interest in the Common Room and had no response, so I assumed no-one else was researching this family. If my personal message fails, I'll try that route again and mention Manchester Rambler in the heading.
Thanks again, Nicola
Have you entered and checked your surname in the suname interests table. This more effective than a post in the common room. The link is via "your surname interests" found at the foot of every page.

Hi Nick,
Let's start again! A very very warm welcome to RC!
I will re-open the thread for you to add your comments, the idea with the challenges was to help people so I'm sure all the contributors would love to know you have an interest.
All the best, Pam
