no,you're not a pain in the neck Cheesy
it depends how common a surname mcquaid was in tyrone at that time.
i dont want to complicate things further but there is a marriage for michael gallagher to mary mcquaide 29-nov-1900 dromore r.c.

i had a look at griffiths valuation of ireland, a lot of mcquaids and gallaghers.
it looks like you've spent money on certs that where wrong so i dont want to add to your expenses by sending you off on a wild goose chase! if you live in the area you could try parish records. it would involve trawling round all the chapels in the area but would prove fruitful. in case you haven't noticed, this is me being stuck Grin i think we need some help Smiley

hello there im back to torture you today again.i was talkng to an old friend of my grandfathers last nite and he told me that my grandfathers brother was a bit of a rogue and spent a lot of his youth in jail for being in the republican movement.his name was michael  gallagher from corraheskin and he spent time in dery jail crumlin road jail peterhead jail in scotland and the prison ship argenta.he was arrested in james street or john street in omagh with rifles and guns.not sure of the dates but somewhere in between 1915-1935 i think.have you any idea how i would get any information on this.

there are loads of hits if you google "prison ship argenta". it seems it was in use in 1922 for interment. proni seem to hold some records on this but i dont think they have a list of detainees. what where you saying yesterday about not finding anything interesting in your family history yet  Smiley

have contacted proni but havent got a reply yet.i think i will have to go to belfast to look up the records myself.dont think they post anything out.also found out last nite that my grandad had a sister and a brother(he died in his youth).not sure of their names yet.still havent found out where great grandad patrick was from but hopefully i,ll get that soon.rang omagh library they keep old heralds on microfilm so have to go there to look up stuff but it,ll probably take time to go through it all as i dont have an exact date.glad there was some scandel after all.would be so dissapointed if my family were boring. i thought i was the only black sheep Grin

its £40 new Sad but you can get it for £18 nearly new. you could put it on your christmas list and maybe santa will bring it,would be an interesting read!
