Hello,
I am wondering if its possible to find more info on an Elizabeth Dickinson/Jardine born 1899 in Langholm. On Jan 8 1918 she married Roy Dickinson (in E.U Congregational House, Langholm). Her father was Martin Jardine and mother Elizabeth Johnstone.Unfortunately Roy died in October of that same year. Both times(for the marriage and a notice on CWGC )the address 108, High St., Langholm was mentioned.
Is this the Jardine family residence? Can i find more info about it and who lived there? Is it possible to find out what happened to Elizabeth afterwards....?
Grateful for any help or advice as to where to go to now.
Kaz

Hi Elizabeth Jardine was my Granny! When Roy Dickinson died she eventually married Harold Wood Hull who was my Grandfather. They lived in Sheffield - she was an amazing woman. My parents and I lived with then until I was 9.
She had one son Ian Hull, (my Dad) born on January 9th 1926 he is still alive but has Alzheimer's disease and no longer knows us . My Mother strangely enough was called Ada Dickinson, she lives near me in North Wales. We still have family in Langholm - in fact we are going there next week.
Granddad was a keen photographer - we think he was a friend of Roy's - we have lots of stories about his death and photographs and postcards her sent her too.
All of that generation have now died, but the children of Gran's sister Jean are still alive the eldest is in her late 80s and still very active. Gran suffered a lot in the war losing Roy and two of her 3 brothers. The eldest Brother David emigrated to the States. I presume you must be a part of Roy's family? Jan

I have no idea how you will 'PM' me!!I'm new to this - It was reallly strange the way I saw your post - My eldest son had phoned me to ask for my cousins address in Langholm, I couldn't remember the post code but as I was working just on the off-chance I 'Googled' my cousins name in Langholm - and in the sites that came up - the first one I opened had your message! So I had to join to answer it. We know very little about Roy - there was some suggestion at one time that Dad was his son - we didn't know when he had died - that clearly can't be true. There is also a story that one of his officers was very much in love with my Grandmother but she would not have anything to do with him and so he sent Roy off on his last 'mission' knowing that he would be unlikely to return. Many of the tales came from Auntie Jean (Jane) who was my Gran's younger sister - she had three daughters and a son and stayed in Langholm, She married William Telfer who was about 20 years older then she was. They lived in Eskdaill Street for many years. I used to spend my holidays there when I was young and we always went to the Common Riding. I think Gran was very 'damaged by Roy's death and the death of her 2 brothers in the war - she was very anti war and government, she spent a lot of time and money during the 2nd World War helping the Jews in Germany and looking back I think she was often very sad. Rosevale Street was the family house and also the telephone exchange so my Great Grandmother knew everything that was going on in Langholm. Great Grandfather (Martin) was killed when he fell from the school roof and left My Great Grandmother with the three boys Gran and Jean as a very small baby they had a hard time. Most of the family spread around the world - some in Australia - USA - some lived in Nairobi and the Middle East. Gran Died in Wales, she came to live in the small town I live in, she had Alzheimer's Disease too and often thought she was back in Langholm.
