Armstrong - Dunshaughlin
« on: Saturday 22 November 08 19:20 UTC (UK) »

I have traced my Armstrong family back to an Edward Armstrong who married Mary Reilly in Dunshaughlin c.1815. There were at least two children - James b. 1815 and Andrew b.1817. Andrew, who married Jane Hand in Moynalty, Co.Meath c.1840 came to England and died in Sunderland, Co.Durham in 1887. The family were in Bradford in the 1851 Census but came to Sunderland at some stage in the 1850's. I have picked up a number of Armstrongs in Griffiths and various parish registers but the Dunshaughlin registers do not start until the 1790's. Does anyone think that there is any chance of picking the family up in any other records which may survive? I would certainly welcome any suggestions.
Andrew married another two times in England and on both occasions stated that his father, Edward, was a farmer.

Thanks
