Welcome Josi!

I hope that you will visit often and make lots of progress.  Please be sure to register your surnames on our SURNAME INTERESTS TABLE.

Workhouses were also hospitals so perhaps Henrietta was poorly.

This site is also excellent though for some reason Tring Workhouse is not mentioned.  It is possible that Tring Workhouse's Admission books and Guardian Minute books for the period may have survived in which case they will be held at HALS.  It might be worth contacting them to see if there is any reference to Henrietta.

I think that the reason that Tring Workhouse is not mentioned on the Workhouse site that I mentioned above is that Berkhamsted Workhouse became the only workhouse for the Union which included; Tring, Berkhamsted, Aldbury, Little Gaddesden, Puttenham & Wiggington in 1835.  Luckily it appears that the Berhamsted Union Guardians' minute books (1835-8, 1845-1930) have survived and are kept at HALS,  so it may be possible to find out exactly what happened to Etty.
