Death: Frederick V.H. NEWICK aged 65, Sep 1962 St Albans 4b 149

So 1897 is about right for a birth...

sft456 has the marriage on another thread (I was just looking for the wifes death for him) will do a link in a mo.

There is no birth in the indexesf for Fred that I can see on FreeBMD under Newick or even Harcourt.

So I think it would be best if sft got the marriage cert to see what it says about his father and go from there

Here is the thread about Dorothy

yeah - siblings all with a middle initial, but looking at Births in Leicester, none seem of the required flavour to be passed on as names ...

Of course!  I knew I'd seen these names before.

Thanks for stepping in to avoid our duplicating all that work. (I was just about to post the 1892 birth of Ivy Blanche L. Newick and suggest the purchase of a certificate...) Shocked

Thanks for the info on Fred & Dot. It seems they might have married at St John's Grimsby, as her father before her.

You won't find birth certs for the 3 boys as I recently found out their father was actually living a double life. His actual wife was Jane but she bore no children. So he also had a fling with Lois with whom he had 3 boys, none of whom was registered. She wasn't his wife, though later in 1911 and 1930 swore on oath that she was!!

Whatever their fathers lifestyle, their births should still be registered.

thanks Tati for  stepping in and stopping us going over old ground yet again.

so sft, out of interest - have you got Fredericks marriage cert - what did he say about who his father was?

And to go back to the original question that you posed to start this thread - how is anyone going to "tell you when Frederick was born" when there has already been all this work on the other thread trying to find just that! Isnt it obvious that the same leads will be followed?
