Can anyone assist with information on the Billane Family, I know that they lived in the High Street, before coming to the UK in the 60's. Patrick Billane stayed in Birr, however came to the UK on a visit and sadly passed away. If anyone has any knowledge can they contact me.
Cheers

Details of living people can't be posted here but PM (personal message) system is for sending those sort of details, email addresses, etc. You'll have to make a few more posts before you can send or get PMs but when you have anyone with information can send you a PM.

Jack,
Many thanks for your assistance, can I get hard copies of the census?.
I would be interested in their dates of birth, occupations etc.
Or if you can point me in the right direction for an online site that I could down load from.
I have the Army records only for James.
Yours gratefully
Ann

Hi Ann, Those records I have appear in a book called 'Birr Roots' but it's not an 'official' census, just one drawn up from census records by the author. All our records are in Dublin in the National Archives, but you have to attend in person to records any census as they are not on-line yet. www.irishmidlandsancestry.com would have records for Laois/Offaly, but they charge a fee for services. Regards, Jack.

You can order microfilms of 1901 and 1911 census from your local LDS library for a small fee to be viewed there. See their online catalogue at www.familysearch.org
The 1911 and then 1901 census for Ireland gradually being put online. See National Archives, Dublin website: www.census.nationalarchives.ie/about/futureplans.html

Thanks for getting back to me, Yes Joe is my uncle and Tony is my half brother. Paddy had four children, Patrick he died aged 2 1/2, James who died in 1985 in the UK, Mary who is my mum and Joe who also lives in the UK but is a frequent visitor to Birr.
How do you know them? and do you know any of their relatives? I have done most of my tree on my dad's side but the Irish side is proving a bit difficult.
Cheers
Ann.
