Hi Vicwinnan,
What was Edward's occupation?
I see this William Saunders in 1901 - don't know if he was William R though:
1901 RG13/813 58 14 Sheerness, Kent 176 High Street Edward Saunders, head, 50, Coppersmith's Labourer, b. Devon Devonport Mary, wife, 48, b. do. Ann, dau, s, 22, Dressmaker, own account at home, b. do. Edward, son, 18, Shipwright Apprentice, b. Kent Sheerness Mary, dau, 16, b. do. William, son, 13, b. do. Beatrice, dau, 11, b. do. William Turner, boarder, s, 21, Joiner, b. Kent Borden
Edit: Back to the drawing board I'm afraid He's William J in 1891

Hi both, Hatcham Parish was in what is now called New Cross, Borough of Lewisham. Many people from Deptford and Greenwich on my tree were also married there.
No, I don't have an occupation for Edward. The marriage information is from FreeBMD, and from a correspondent whose email is now bouncing. If I have to, I will buy the certificate myself, but I thought that I would try finding a census first.
From information given me I have found what I think is William Robert Saunders birth on FreeBMD 1888 Greenwich Reg Dist.

Hi Vicwinann
As this is an old request, I am just wondering if you are still looking for the origins of William Robert SAUNDERS? Perhaps the 1911 census has been helpful?
All Saints, Hatcham 7 Jun 1908 William Robert SAUNDERS 33 ba lab (Edward SAUNDERS dec. farm lab) Elizabeth TALLETT 21 sp (William TALLETT lab dec) both of 131 Pomeroy Street Wit; George Henry MORRIS Elizabeth MORRIS
