Hello,
Could someone please look up for a William Robert Saunders born abt 1888, son of Edward Saunders in the 1901 or 1891 censuses? With such a common name I may be asking too much.
The only info that I have at the moment is that he married Elizabeth Tallett in 1908 at Hatcham Church, and his father's name was Edward.  Elizabeth's parents were William Tallett and Esther nee Rawlings.

I see this William Saunders in 1901 - don't know if he was William R though:

Do you have any info on his place of birth ?

or confirm the Parish of marriage.

There is a Hatch in Kent (South of Ashford) but not aware of Hatchem

Is this the marriage entry you have

Hi both,
Hatcham Parish was in what is now called New Cross,  Borough of Lewisham.  Many people from Deptford and Greenwich on my tree were also married there.

No, I don't have an occupation for Edward. The marriage information is from FreeBMD, and from a correspondent whose email is now bouncing.  If I have to, I will buy the certificate myself, but I thought that I would try finding a census first.

From information given me I have found what I think is William Robert Saunders birth on FreeBMD 1888 Greenwich Reg Dist.

Hmm. I can't see the FreeBMD birth registration that you mention  Huh

The 1891 census also shows a William R Saunders age 3 born Pembury, but the parents are William and Annie.

Me neither  Undecided   Can you post the details for what you think is the one.

I searched all Williams in 1888 in vol 1d and there is only one Saunder William Dodd b.1888. No varient spellings came up either.

Hi,
The marriage is the one mentioned by Adi. 1908 June 1d 1735 Elizabeth Tallett and William Robert Saunders. The marriage took place on 7th June 1908 at Hatcham Parish Church according to my information. The birth of William Robert, I think, is not as I said Greenwich. My mistake. Sorry. But the one in Bromley Reg Dist 1888 June 2a 142.  It is the only one that I can find for a William Robert although my correspondent said that he was born in Greenwich. I suspect she was guessing.

As this is an old request, I am just wondering if you are still looking for the origins of William Robert SAUNDERS?  Perhaps the 1911 census has been helpful?

Thank you for your message. No, I don't have the 1911 for William Robert Saunders and Elizabeth, and I haven't yet sent for the civil marriage cert.

Also the marriage details that you kindly sent put his birthdate about 1875 whereas I had that he was born 1888.

Yes, I am still looking for William Robert's family (although not actively just recently) as I think that he is also linked to my maternal Saunders.
