McGuinness
« on: Monday 24 March 08 23:49 UTC (UK) »

Owen and Bridget McGuinness nee McCudden emigrated to Australia in 1859. I have Latton parish baptism registers back to 1868 so is not far enough back to make any links. Oral history states that a journeyman McGuinness came to Anascue and married a Farmer girl. It is possible McGuinness's came from Castlebellingham in Louth and they definitely had roots in Dundrum in Down. Catherine McGuinness was part of the Flight of the Earls. I am trying though just to link the McGuinness family in in the Latton Parish. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How early in 1900's?

Maybe try looking at 1911 Census for them..

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/results.jsp?surname=McGuinness&firstname=John&county=Monaghan&townland=&ded=&age=&sex=&submit=Search&sort=age&pageSize=100

the census only gives 10 John Guinness!!

Maybe try McGinnis as well!
