Been doing some more researching and found out

William Patterson & Elizabeth Patterson had a son James Pattterson (died 18th January 1939)
James Patterson was married to Annie Adam (died 20th August 1943) They had a daughter Jean (Patterson?) who died 1st September 1971. The record for James Pattersons death I found on Scotlands people was registered by a James Patterson who was the son of James & Annie.
So I know they had a son also called James.

However I am not sure if this family above are the family to a James Patterson that was in my family. He died 1st October 1985.

Is there anyway I can find out if this James is the son of James & Annie?

All of these Pattersons liveed in the Denny area. Sorry if this sounds confusing there are far too many James Pattersons in my family Shocked
