Hi
Im in search for the Leonard family from Co Monaghan.

Thomas Leonard (m) Sarah Spence(r)
year of marriage unknown.  They had four known children. Nothing is known about their parents - although there is a record of a Sarah Leonard who died in 1858 age 82 of Tonnagh, Ematris.

It seems that after her husband 'Thomas' died (year unknown) she  had joint property with a Edward Murphy in Dernamoyle - according to 1830 Tithe Applotment Book.

1. John 1814
2. Thomas 1815
3. William 1820
4. Margaret 1823

I believe that they were born in Dernamoyle. My line Thomas Leonard (m) Frances Woods in 1837 in Dernamoyle.

In 1842/43 - Thomas his young family migrated to Australia, on the records it stated his father was desceased at the time and his mother 'Sarah' was still living.

Any help - with the LEONARD family of Dernomoyle would be appreciated.

20th Aug 1840 Henry  son, James Stuart + Margaret Leonard, Tullynarney, Kilmore.

15th July 1858 Margaret Daughter, James Stuart + Margaret Leonard, Tullynarney, Kilmore

31st Oct  1849 Elizabeth, Daugher; James Stuart + Margaret Leonard, Tullynarney, Kilmore.

2nd June1852 Sarah Jane Daugher;  James Stuart + Margaret Leonard, Tullynarney, Kilmore

6th Jan 1843 Richard Son: James Stuart + Margaret Leonard, Tullynarney, Kilmore

Two more children should be added to the James Stuart / Margaret Leonard family as follows :-
21stOct1860 George  & 30thSept1838 William - William was listed as born at Kilnahaltar - this is the address of the Glebe House of Kilmore Church so they probably moved after his birth to Tullynarney.  These Records appear in the Church Records of Ballyalbany Presbytyerian Church now available on CD.

     I am a relative of Margaret Leonard, wife of James Stewart.  I have been trying to find out more info on them.
  You are actually missing my great great grandmother, Mary Anne Stewart.  I'd love to exchange more info.

So are you connected with the LEONARD family of

Thomas Leonard who married Sarah Spence(r)
Four known children.

Nothing is known about their parents - although there is a record of a Sarah Leonard who died in 1858 age 82 of Tonnagh, Ematris.

1. John 1814
2. Thomas 1815 - (m) F. Woods & (m) Margaret Mills
3. William 1820
4. Margaret 1823 - (m) James Stewart

My line stems from Thomas Leonard he first married Frances Woods in Ireland - and they migrated to Australia with their children - after Frances's death, Thomas then married a girl lot younger than what he was Margaret Ann Mills in 1877.

Im descendant of his 2nd marriage
In formation is rather scarce regarding the early LEONARD families of Ireland.

As for the Thomas's brothers and sisters - I am just starting to find out who they married etc etc - as its is rather hard to locate certain information - it was with the help of those on RootsChat.

There may also be another Stewart girl, a Cordelia Stewart was a witness at MaryAnne's wedding.  I haven't been able to find her any place else, so I don't know if she is a relative or just happened to have the same last name.
