B M D records for Leeds Yorkshire
« on: Tuesday 02 December 08 11:02 UTC (UK) »

I am looking for the baptism for Sarah HAINSWORTH.  The census says she was born in Leeds, Yorkshire 1801.  She was on the 1841 census as (Mrs) Sarah BUFFINE - husband Henry Buffine, son George Hainsworth Buffine.  Also on the census was a Hannah Ainsworth (probably wrong spelling, and was probably her mother - age 65)

Do you think it would be possible to find her baptism, and or her parents marriage.  Sarah and Henry were married 1829 St. Martins in the Fields, Westminster, London.

Would appreciate any help.

Hi Sabrina,

There is a Sarah Hainsworth baptised at St Peters Leeds on 4th July 1802. It has father as
Joseph Hainsworth.  I am happy to look that up at Leeds Library if you think that one is a possible.

Best wishes,

Elin

Hi Elin

Oops! must have pressed the wrong button.

If it is no trouble to you, I would apreciate if you could look up the record for Sarah Hainsworth.

In the 1841 census, they said she was 40 years, and as I stated, there was a Hannah Ainsworth living with them aged 65.  This could be her mother - but then maybe not.  She named her son George Hainsworth Buffine.

We people in Australia really appreciate the help you give us from UK.

Hi Sabrina,

The record shows, Sarah Hainsworth, born 5th June 1802 and Baptised 4th July, 1802.  Her father was Joseph and they lived in Armley.

Cheers,

Elin

Thank you for trying.  There is no way to know if this our Sarah.  It would appear to be Saraha's mother Hannah living with them in the 1841 census, in St. james Middlesex.  In 1846 March 1/4 Marylebone, there was a death for a Hannah Hainsworth 1  185.  We are going to purchase the death record, hoping that it will have her husbands name on the record.  Some times you can be lucky.

Thank you for your help.

Sabrina......

There is a marriage for a Joseph HAINSWORTH to a Sarah GARFORTH, which took place at Leeds Parish Church, September 26th 1796......

and a baptism for a Sarah Garforth, which took place at Armley , September 4th 1777, fathers name James Garforth......

This fits in nicely with the information that Elin gave, and her age on 1841 census.

Regards
