Missing in 1851? :(
« on: Saturday 20 December 08 20:44 UTC (UK) »

Hi there

Can anyone help me find a Levi Hillsdon (or Hilsden/Hillsden/Hilsdon), born in 1834, waddesdon, bucks on the 1851 census?

His father was george, mother herodias, but he wasn't living with them in 1851 (he would have been 17)

In the 1861/1871 census, he is married with kids (Wife Sarah Ann) and they are living in Shoreditch.

Thanks

Did he go by any other name? The only Hillsdon born in Waddesdon about 1834 I could find on the 1851 census was a George Hilsdon, 18, labourer who was married to Elizabeth, 18 also born Waddesdon and living in St. Pancras, Middlesex.

This may be just a coincidence but there is a death in the FreeBMD index for an Elisabeth Hillsden registered in Shoreditch in the third quarter of 1855 (volume 1c, page 125).

hiya Jacquie!

George was his brother Smiley (and my GGG-Grandfather)  The only name change I have come across is Lewin H, and that was because it was mistranscribed.  More then likely this is why he is missing in 1851!  he would probably have either been in service, or he signed up maybe...?  he would have been around 17, so just into the work age.

I don't know, probably will never find him Sad
