Quoting the post that you are replying to is probably the best idea Trish. That way what they have said that caused you to respond the way you did is there in black and white and they are unable to delete or refute it.

Lately I have saved the whole thread to my computer in cases where I think there is the possibility of someone deleting the post I am responding to or if the post is rude or contentious.

I've seen some very rude and nasty posts on Roots chat , being quite new to
this chat forum I have been very surprised as I thought we were all here to

I think it's a shame that anyone says anything on RootsChat that they feel
the need to actually delete after saying it .. ?

The page 20 ruling used to be an unresolved issue, and we had to delete ..
but since then we've managed to get round it.

I've always been happy to apologise if I got something wrong - which is interesting when one is a civil servant - as many were more concerned with always proving they were right  Grin - so I do apologise for using the word "wimp". I am sure there were/are many cases and reasons where someone may delete or wish to delete a thread for unwimpish reasons.  So my bad  Embarrassed

I was thinking at the time, of a post deleted, when the poster realised it may reflect badly upon the "holier than thou" attitude that was being displayed in a related discussion. I should not have made the all encompassing statement that all deletes were similar.

Many thanks for the discussion - It seems no-one is 100% sure when a delete appears, except on TOT

I shall now be a wimp and lock the thread  Smiley - which according to Newf will not necessarily stop further posts  Undecided Huh
