I have never had trouble buying CDs from the LDS Nick - you ring up, pay by credit card & within a week they arrive. I haven't ordered any recently, but if the Sydney centre still exists, I assume this still happens..... I tried to order the BVRI CD's by phone (from the centre in Birmingham), and they said that these were only sold on the internet, but the problem is they are not listed on the LDS Family History site any more
So I emailed them asking how/where I could purchase them, and....... no reply !

Hi Nick
I did notice on the other thread that my info was out of date - and the London centre still lists the Birmingham details.
The Australian site contains the following comment CREDIT CARD CUSTOMERS TEMPORARY DISRUPTION The Church is undertaking a global upgrade to some of its ordering systems including this online store. During this period, orders that are paid for using a credit card cannot be made. However they still list the Sydney number for where purchases can be made. http://www.lds.org.au/ - use the "church materials" link
Perhaps this tempory disruption is the problem. I couldn't find the link to follow on the .uk site

The Birmingham centre details are correct, Trish - it's just that they don't appear to sell BVRI CD's any more.

Guy that gives me the USD pricing - if I go through the Oz site I get AUD pricing & I would have thought the UK site would give prices (& thus postage) in GBP - Ordering from outside one's own country gets very expensive postage wise.
But if it gives you the UK pricing, then I would think that is what Nick is looking for.

Purchase the LDS CDs from their website at http://www.rootschat.com/links/051v/ There is an index down the left side of the page - scroll down to Family History, then across to Software & Databases. Choose the type of resource required from the list. Cheers Guy Thanks Guy, but no BVRI, as far as I can see. The nearest I can find on that site is a "Western Europe Vital Records Index" which mostly contains stuff I don't want. No UK vital indexes at all.

Shows how observant I am not - If I go through the Oz site, the BVRI comes up at $29.50AUD

Yes, I did not check to see if the BIVRI was still on there, but it is still on the Australian site.
I shall have to check if it is still available to buy at the Preston center (next to the Temple) next time I am up there. Cheers Guy

Hi
I wonder if the disappearance of the disks for sale is anything to do with the fact they seem to be on Ancestry now?

I can't find them on the Ancestry UK site - to be honest, I don't care where I get them, as long as they're legit and not exorbitantly priced

ERKKK!
This is very sad news! I haven't tried to get a film for some time, so didn't know about it.
I do know that my local LDS centre has substantially cut down their hours of opening - which were never very generous, anyway. Perhaps they are trying to get us to stop using their Centres, and just use the Internet?
It's sad. I used to really enjoy going in there and sifting through films - without their films, I'd still have some brick walls which have now been cracked through....
