I agree Judith
That's one of the ways that I was able to connect two families - by comparing signatures of witnesses from the PR's.
It is such a shame that we no longer have reasonable access to this fine resource. One can only hope that the films are available online at some stage.
We live in hope and wait patiently.....

Purchasing is only really an option if one owns, or has access to, a film or fiche reader - I guess not many of us are in this category. Also, for me, I usually have a limited number of people I want to find on a given film or fiche - enough to make notes about, not enough to make them worth buying, because once I have found my people, that is it!

Hi all,
I have been told that some FHC will close. Probably not those that are part of a Temple. The current turn around time makes research a drawn out process.

Frank,
It will be very sad if that happens. But not surprising, I suppose, given all of the above! My local centre is probably one of those at risk, in that case.
Oh, for the good old days when you could order a film one week and it would be here the next! I'm probably fortunate, in that I did a lot of intensive work and have the bulk of my people who could be found. There are always more people and things that one could look for, though!

This is all very sad... wish we could find a way to reverse it.

Yes - I used to leave a donation when I used my local centre. It doesn't seem right that one uses all those resources for free! Maybe the sums just aren't adding up for the LDS any more!!
