What denomination were the Burke and Morris families? Were they members of the Catholic faith, the Established Church (Anglicans or Church of Ireland) or possibly Presbyterians?

You'll have to rely on Church records as civil registration in Ireland was not introduced until 1864. Non Catholic marriages were registered from 1845 onwards. When registration for BDMS started in 1864 some people didn't bother with the registration for a few years after that date. Keep your fingers crossed that church records still exist.

Hi,maybe the pre famine survey of Kilcumreragh would be worth looking at as there were Burke's living in the Parish of Rosemount & Tubber at this time, the survey was done in 1835 ,I also know there were Burke family's living just out side of Moate, there were a couple of families living on the Clara road & another family on living on the Dublin road (as you leave Moate & go towards Dublin) these families of Burke's were living a round Moate in 1875 & where large families.Good luck regards Nipy
